Education ministry announces girls' sports carnival

Islamabad: The education ministry has announced the Girls' Sports Carnival from October 17 to 19 in Islamabad saying the three-day event is meant to promote sports among young girls and provide them with a platform to showcase their athletic skills.

According to an official of the ministry, around 5,000 girls from across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, will participate in a wide range of sports activities.

The carnival will feature representation from all provinces, ensuring a diverse and inclusive event, which will utilise state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support the sports activities.

Sports included track and field, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and tennis. The official said the carnival was meant to encourage girls to engage in sports and maintain an active lifestyle, provide a stage for girls to display their talents and abilities, foster a sense of competition and teamwork among participants, and promote national unity through sports. He said the ministry was committed to empowering young girls and promoting a culture of fitness and health through sports event.
