PESHAWAR: Special Anti-Corruption Court Judge Salahuddin Khan on Monday confirmed the interim bail of former provincial minister Kamran Bangash in a corruption case.

The court ruled on the matter after hearing arguments on the bail application.A lawyer appearing for the former minister informed the court that his client was accused of embezzlement in the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of Bahrain, Swat.

According to the Anti-Corruption Department, Kamran Bangash had allegedly misappropriated municipal taxes, causing a loss of Rs16.3 million to the treasury. A case was subsequently registered against him at the Anti-Corruption Police Station in Swat. The lawyer argued that the charges were politically motivated, and the prosecution lacked evidence to substantiate the claims.
