LAHORE: On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, environmental surveillance has been launched in Punjab with the help of an integrated system with the drone and latest satellite technology.

A crackdown has been launched by conducting raids on violation of environmental laws and smoke emissions through a drone and satellite monitoring system. The factories have been traced through a drone for causing smoke emissions and not adhering to the mandated environmental laws.

The Environment Protection Department team, along with the district administration, conducted a raid on two factories located on a Sheikhupura road, Gujranwala. The raiding team, demolishing the kilns causing environmental pollution, later sealed both the factories.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb commended the Environment Protection Department and district administration on undertaking swift action. She said, “On the direction of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we will further take forward preemptive saving environment campaign briskly.”

The senior minister said, “We will have to eliminate the factors causing smog, which takes away lives of 2.5 lakh people every year.” She asked every citizen of Punjab to provide sincere help in the government’s campaign for the elimination of smog.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while going back to Lahore from DG Khan, made her vehicle stop at a ‘tea stall’. She was on her way back after attending ‘Children Nutrition Program’ ceremony in DG Khan. The chief minister took the traditional tea of DG Khan. The chief minister told the people at the hotel that Nawaz Sharif is deeply concerned and worried about electricity bills of the people. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and myself are providing you relief.

Price-hike has been reduced significantly by making the prices of flour, sugar, ghee, pulses and vegetables cheaper in markets. We are striving the utmost to provide further relief to the people across Punjab.”

Also, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in her message on the Pakistan Navy Day said, “We salute the Pakistan Navy on being deputed for safeguarding the coastal boundaries of Pakistan. The officers and sepoys of Pakistan Navy are our pride. The 8th September Day reminds us of the precious sacrifices laid down by the valiant soldiers of Pakistan Navy and their extraordinary achievements.”

The chief minister added, “The Pakistan Navy gave a befitting reply to its enemy in the 1965 and 1971 wars. The audacious soldiers of Pakistan Navy caused an irreparable loss to its enemy in the course of safeguarding its coastal boundaries. The unforgettable role of Pakistan Navy in safeguarding its dear homeland will be remembered in the annals of history for long.”

In her message on the International Literacy Day, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said, “We will undertake all possible measures for the out of school children across the province. The required resources needed for the basic education of ignored segments of society are being provided. We pledge to impart education to everyone on the eve of International Literacy Day. The religion of Islam lays emphasis on acquiring knowledge and the Holy Quran also preaches to attain knowledge.”

The CM added, “Literacy improves quality of life and provides immense opportunities of progress. We cannot think of a bright future without attaining 100 percent literacy rate. The Punjab government is undertaking historical and innovative steps for the provision of ease in access to education.”

The CM added, “4 lakh students of 3 districts are being provided packets of milk under the ‘Chief Minister School Nutrition Program’.

The Punjab government is providing laptops to the students for providing them assistance in their education and research. We will provide scholarships to the students of Punjab in the national and international universities.

The Punjab government will provide buses to the students especially female students so as to provide comfort in their transportation in every tehsil. The admissions of children are being undertaken under the enrolment campaign.”
