Tribal elder’s son martyred, four injured in Waziristan blast

Police also launched search operation in area to apprehend perpetrators

WANA: The son of Malik Ajmal Khan Wazir, the chief of Ahmadzai Wazir tribe, was martyred and he and his three other companions sustained injuries when their vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb in Karikot area in Lower Waziristan tribal district on Sunday.

District Police Officer, Lower Waziristan tribal district, Farmanullah Khan said that Malik Ajmal Khan Wazir along with his son and three other companions were coming to Wana Adda from Tojaykhel area.

He said that their vehicle, they were travelling in, was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb by suspected militants in the Karikot area.

As a result, Shamsuddin, the son of Ahjmal Khan Wazir, was martyred on the spot while Ajmal Khan and his three companions sustained injuries in the explosion.

Soon after the incident, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wana.

The police also launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.

No militant group or individual has claimed responsibility for the subversive act.
