LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), acting on information from intelligence agencies, has dismantled an international human trafficking network operating out of Lahore.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the network lured citizens with promises of overseas employment and swindled them.
The group, apprehended in Lahore, was producing counterfeit documents at its own printing press, which was found to be creating fake documents for multiple countries.
Further investigations have revealed that the Lahore-based network had connections with international ‘Dunki’ groups. The spokesperson also revealed that Indian and Afghan nationals were involved in these criminal activities, and an Indian conspiracy to tarnish Pakistan’s reputation was uncovered during the investigation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the FIA and intelligence agencies for successfully dismantling the network, calling it a significant milestone in the fight against human trafficking.
He vowed that similar operations would continue, stating that the government would go to any lengths to eradicate human trafficking and deal with those involved with an iron fist.
