According to GDA Information Secretary Sardar Abdul Rahim, the meeting would be held at the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional House in Karachi to consider the proposed amendments to the Irsa Act.

Rahim claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have viciously joined hands to amend the Irsa Act to deprive Sindh of its due water share.

He said that the due constitutional and lawful procedures, including discussing such issues during the meetings of the Council of Common Interests, are being ignored by the government to unduly amend the Irsa Act.

He added that being the natives of the lower riparian area, the people of Sindh have the foremost right to consume the water of the Indus River.

The meeting will be attended by the top leaders of the GDA, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, the Jamaat-e-Islami, the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party and other Sindhi nationalist parties.
