LAHORE: Police on Saturday arrested a woman for torturing her domestic help brutally. Accused Farah Bibi, wife of Saeed Ahmed of 135/B Askari 10, tortured 15-year-old maid.
The accused along with her mother, Shahnaz Baig, subjected the young maid Muqadas to brutal torture. She was beaten with sticks and forced to drink hot water, causing serious physical harm. The severity of the maid’s condition prompted local residents to contact the police. Emergency services transported Muqadas to Services Hospital. Police have filed a case against Farah Bibi and Shahnaz Baig under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which pertains to the offence of causing grievous hurt.
299 raids on drug dealers’ hideouts
Punjab police teams conducted 299 raids on drug dealers' hideouts over the last 24 hours, resulting in the arrest of 116 individuals and the registration of 115 cases.
The spokesperson of Punjab police said that since February, during the ongoing crackdown, 20,342 raids have been conducted across the province, resulting in the arrest of 23,822 accused and the registration of 23,247 cases.
Over 150,000 criminals arrested
Over 150,000 criminals wanted in various cases were arrested across the Punjab province.
More than 91,000 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes were apprehended in Lahore and across the province this year. Among these were 14,513 Category A offenders and 76,866 Category B offenders.
Car falls into canal
A recklessly driven car fell into the canal near Thokar Niaz Baig on Saturday.
Fortunately, the two occupants of the car escaped without any injuries. Upon receiving the report of the accident, the rescue teams and police quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the vehicle from the canal with the help of a crane. Approximately 49,000 court absconders were also captured, including 3,718 Category A and 45,272 Category B absconders. Additionally, 23,246 habitual offenders (target offenders) were arrested, including 9,914 Category A and 13,332 Category B offenders.
