Emily Armstrong, former Dead Sara band's frontwoman, and the newly added vocalist of Linkin Park, wanted to “clear the air about something” after receiving severe criticism upon joining the band, over her previous ties to the Church of Scientology and her past support of convicted rapist and actor Danny Masterson.
“Hi, I’m Emily,” the new member of the rock band broke silence in an Instagram story post. “I’m new to so many of you, and I wanted to clear the air about something that happened a while back.
“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer.” she added.
“Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since.”
“Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty,” Emily continued.
Adding, “To say it as clearly as possible,” she said, “I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.”
Masterson, who starred in Netflix's The Ranch and the popular Fox sitcom That 70's Show, was found guilty of two of the three counts of forced rape earlier in the year and was given a 30-year to life term in prison last September.
Masterson was accused of raping three women at his Hollywood Hills residence in 2001 and 2003, while appearing on That 70's Show.
