ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Housing and Works has taken note of the challenges faced by federal government employees due to rising rental prices in major cities across the country.
The ministry has reviewed the current rental ceiling rates for housing accommodations in response.
The ministry has instructed the director general of the estate office to conduct a comprehensive market survey in six major cities—Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta—to assess the prevailing rental prices. The ministry has directed that the survey report be submitted within a week. Sources indicate that the ministry will adjust the rental ceiling rates in light of the market survey, with an increase expected. Currently, the low rental ceiling rates force federal employees to contribute additional funds from their pockets to cover rent, leading to financial strain.
