Sindh Assembly pays homage to armed forces, martyrs on Defence Day

The Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution to pay homage to the Pakistani armed forces and its personnel who laid down their lives in the defence of the country.

The resolution was tabled by Sindh Minister for Law, Home and Parliamentary Affairs Ziaul Hassan Lanjar to pay homage to the armed forces on the occasion of Defence Day of Pakistan.

The proceedings of the session started with the playing of the National Anthem as the legislators in the House stood from their seats as a token of respect. All the parliamentary groups in the House supported the resolution passed by the assembly.

The resolution paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces in the defence of their native land.

It also praised the role of the armed forces of the country in defending the motherland and combating internal and external threats to the security of the country. The resolution stated that the House eulogised the services of the soldiers who had been performing their duties to safeguard the country.

The resolution also paid homage to the martyrs of the armed forces and their families.

Speaking on the resolution, Lanjar said Defence Day of Pakistan was commemorated on September 6 to remember the daring services and sacrifices of the personnel of the armed forces. Other lawmakers on the treasury and opposition benches also spoke on the occasion to pay homage to the armed forces. The speaker later adjourned the session till Monday, September 9, at 2pm.
