19,000 smoky vehicles fined, impounded

LAHORE:Action was taken against smoke-emitting 19,000 vehicles on Friday. The authorities concerned issued fine tickets for the vehicles of Rs2,000 each. The authorities also impounded 890 vehicles at various police stations. More than 10,000 tickets were issued to vehicles causing sand, mud, and other forms of environmental pollution. Some 1,971 tickets were issued to tractor-trolley owners for polluting the air at night. Some 1,810 vehicles were fined over not having fitness certificate and 440 fitness certificates were canceled.
