Both sides agreed to convince the BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal to withdraw his resignation

ISLAMABAD: Amid high political polarization in the country, the government and opposition gathered in the Speaker’s Chamber at the Parliament House on Thursday and discussed the parliamentary and national security issues with Balochistan top of the agenda.

Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser and Aamir Dogar from the PTI and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Hanif Abbasi and Khalid Magsi attended the meeting on the behalf of the government.

According to sources, the meeting discussed the opposition’s proposal to convene an in-camera joint session of parliament on the current situation in Balochistan. Both sides agreed to convince the BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal to withdraw his resignation from the National Assembly.
