ACE arrests ex-SI for making illegal assets

LAHORE:Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials arrested a former sub-inspector of police on charges of corruption and making assets illegally.

Reportedly, ex-SI Rafique Ahmad during his posting in the Kacha area in Rahimyar Khan had made illegal property worth millions of rupees through corruption and misuse of powers. ACE Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha ordered an inquiry against him and after the probe a case was registered against the SI and he was arrested.

The probe showed that the accused SI illegally cultivated 1,444 kanals of land by using his position as SHO and in 2018 he got the Waqaf land of 1,384 kanal of Hazrat Khwaja Ghulam Fareed and cultivated it also illegally.

He also had acquired unclaimed properties in the name of his son in Mohalla Islamnagar Rahimyar Khan and four kanal land at Kachi Zaman Rahimyar Khan. The accused also created benami properties from the income obtained from illegal sources. The probe also found him purchasing four valuable vehicles and engaged them in the rent-a-car business.
