ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided in principle not to consider any player for the series against England till the time he clears his fitness tests.

The decision has been taken under the recommendations of red-ball coach Jason Gillespie, who was unhappy with the fitness level of some key players during the recently held two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

It was observed during the series that a number of players especially bowlers were not in the best possible fitness condition which hampered their performance to a considerable level. All the centrally-contracted players will now undergo fitness tests on September 6 and 8 in Faisalabad ahead of start of the Champions Cup ODI Cricket. Since all the leading cricketers will be in Faisalabad for the Champions Cup, it has been decided that all contracted players will undergo fitness tests there.
