PPP backs USC employees, vows to prevent closure

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has extended its support to the employees of the Utility Stores Corporation and assured them that the party will take up the matter with the government to reconsider its decision to close the Utility Stores.

A PPP delegation, comprising MNAs Ijaz Ahmad Jakharani, Agha Rafiullah, and Rafiq Ahmad Jamali, visited the sit-in at D-Chowk where the Utility Stores Corporation employees protested. The delegation expressed solidarity with the affected employees.Chief Whip of the PPP in the National Assembly Ijaz Ahmed Jakharani addressed the protesters, saying that they were there on the directive of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

He also expressed the party’s resolve to prevent the closure of the utility stores and assured the employees that the PPP would stand with them.

He further assured the protesting employees that the PPP would take up the matter with the government and meet with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the issue.

Jakharani said the PPP had always stood by the workers and had a history of providing employment.

MNA Agha Rafiullah, while addressing the employees, reiterated that the PPP has always supported the working class and will not allow employees to become unemployed. MNAs Rafiq Ahmad Jamali and Asadullah also said that the PPP has always been the voice of the poor and has never left anyone jobless.
