LALAMUSA: Former Federal Minister for Human Resource Development and Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain asked the parliament to play its role in terminating the agreements with the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) which have become a financial burden.
Talking to the media at Nat House Gujrat, Wajahat Hussain said “Billions of rupees of the nation’s taxes are being funnelled into these agreements, turning them into a noose around our necks. Parliament must play a decisive role in terminating them and addressing corruption, especially in the context of electricity bills. The time has come to deal with these issues with an iron hand and to prioritise the relief of the entire nation over the rewards of a few.” PML-Q Leader reiterated his call for a joint session of Parliament to frame a national policy that reflects the collective will of the people. He urged the Federation and Parliament to take immediate steps to provide much-needed relief to the nation through the formulation of the best possible policies.
Highlighting the precarious state of the nation, Wajahat called on all political parties and interest groups to set aside their vested agendas and unite for the greater good. “The nation and the country need complete unity at this critical juncture,” Wajahat stated. “It is imperative that all parties and groups prioritise national interests over personal gain. The rulers should focus on the welfare of the nation, and Parliament must work towards formulating a consensus policy that can be implemented for the betterment of Pakistan.
”The current situation in the country is not good,” Wajahat Hussain warned. “We must all work together to steer the national boat to safety. It is because of this country that we enjoy the freedom to do everything. Now, more than ever, there is no room for personal interests or the politics of silence.”
Wajahat underscored the importance of the Pakistan Army, calling it the “pride of the entire nation.” He praised Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir for his unprecedented efforts to foster national unity, describing them as vital steps in securing the country’s future.
