Fine imposed on smoke-emitting vehicles

LAHORE:Traffic police imposed a fine of 13.8 million rupees on smoke-emitting vehicles across the Punjab province this year. At least 69,000 such vehicles received challan tickets. The traffic police also sent over 2,088 smoke-emitting vehicles for suspension of their route permits and registered FIRs against 150 vehicles. Additionally, more than 36,459 vehicles were impounded for violating road regulations. Fitness certificates were suspended for 1,330 smoke-emitting vehicles. Vehicles are fined Rs2,000 each.
