Measures to digitise e-stamp paper system approved

LAHORE:In a bid to curb fraud, a full board meeting of the Board of Revenue (BoR), Punjab, chaired by Senior Member BoR, Nabeel Javed on Friday, approved the measures to modernise and digitise the e-stamp paper system.

The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including Member Colonies Malik Abdul Waheed, Member Consolidation Rashid Kamal-ur-Rehman, Chief Settlement Commissioner Khalid Saleem, Member Taxes Zaman Wattoo, and several other members. Fourteen agenda items were presented for approval during the session, including the restructuring of colony branches across all districts of Punjab.

A committee has also been formed to extend the lease period of government land allocated under ongoing schemes for agricultural graduates. The committee will present its recommendations within two weeks regarding the lease policy for government lands. Reforms in the BoR’s tax wing were also greenlit to streamline and improve tax collection. Additionally, upgrades to the BoR's internal audit system were approved to enhance transparency in the usage of government lands, recovery of dues from illegal occupants, and audits of both commercial and agricultural lands.

Nabeel Javed instructed all board members to ensure transparency in the auction and leasing of government lands and to publish all relevant details on the website. Furthermore, the proposal to transition all registrations to a paperless digital system was also discussed.
