KARACHI: The Pakistan Business Council’s Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business recently conducted a workshop in collaboration with Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EPCL).

Goal 08: Decent Work and Economic Growth, played a key role in the event.
The workshop commenced with opening remarks from CEO of EPCL Abdul Qayoom Sheikh and CEO of the Pakistan Business Council Ehsan Malik. Both leaders addressed the current challenges and opportunities related to fostering decent
work conditions in Pakistan.
The specialized session focused on the importance of skill development for both employees and suppliers as a means to cultivate a culture of decent work.
Guest speaker Nausheen Ahmed delivered a keynote address, highlighting critical components of decent work such as job stability, equitable access to productive employment, and family protection.
She also provided an overview of recent updates in Pakistani labour laws, discussing their
implications for businesses.
The workshop included presentations, a panel discussion, and interactive activities aimed at exploring the management processes necessary for implementing the concept of decent work.
EPCL’s senior management shared insights from their practical experience, showcasing how the company integrates decent work practices within their operations and supply chain.
The event was well-attended by industry executives, who engaged in meaningful discussions on advancing decent work standards in the business sector.
