According to a statement issued by Nepra, the KE has been instructed not to carry out load-shedding at night. NEPRA said that even in cases of extreme necessity, load-shedding should not exceed one hour.

The power regulator also directed the KE to submit a report within seven days in the light of these directives, warning that legal action would be taken if its instructions were not followed. It is noteworthy that in recent days, Karachi has been gripped by extreme heat, and during this period, load-shedding in various parts of the city exceeded 14 hours. Dozens of citizens died due to heatstroke during high temperatures. During this time, the provincial home minister also announced that if sudden deaths in Karachi were found to be caused by load-shedding, murder charges would be filed against the KE.
