PTI stages protests to demand release of leaders

PESHAWAR: Like the rest of the country, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members staged protests in the city and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to demand the release of the party leaders, including the founder, Imran Khan.

The PTI members staged protests in different cities of the province, where the party-elected representatives addressed the protesters.In Peshawar, the PTI activists took out processions and later staged demonstrations in Namak Mandi and at the KP Assembly Chowk.

PTI MNAs, including Sher Ali Arbab, Asif Khan, Higher Education Minister Meena Khan Afridi, MPA Fazal Elahi Khan, Samiullah Khan, and former ministers Taimur Jhagra, Kamran Bangash, Mahmood Jan Khan, etc, led the processions of the party workers later spoke to the rallies. The speakers said they would continue peaceful protests till all their party leaders, including Imran Khan, were freed from jails.

They said the party’s founding chairman had been imprisoned illegally as his political opponents were afraid of his popularity.The party workers accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders of stealing their mandate.

They said they would not accept the federal government as the majority of the people in the government were sitting there on form 47.The PTI members criticised the government for the skyrocketing prices of food items, unemployment and deteriorating law and order situation.
