PWD committee approves golden handshake plan for technical staff

Employees whose service is between 10 and 20 years would be paid a monthly basic salary for the remainder of their service

ISLAMABAD: The PWD dissolution transition plan committee has unanimously approved recommendations for a golden handshake scheme for technical staff of the department.

The approval was given in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada and attended by Planning Commission deputy chairman and secretaries of Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, Power Division, Law and Justice and Finance Division.

According to sources, employees who have served for more than 20 years will be paid 400 per cent monthly pension till the age of retirement.

Employees whose service is between 10 and 20 years would be paid a monthly basic salary for the remainder of their service. Those with less than 10 years of service would also be paid a basic salary per month. Regular non-technical staff will not get this offer and they will be sent to surplus pool.
