I know I am a bit late, but I was unable to write earlier as I was busy. I thoroughly enjoyed the much-awaited cover stories Books Please by SG (21 June issue) and Sun, Fun and Flicks by Fatima Zakir (28 June issue). I have saved the two issues for future reference. I would have loved a larger selection, though, because one cannot have enough good books and movies.

I also read ‘Ground Reality’ (21 July issue), With a Broken Heart, with an equally broken heart of my own. It seems Pakistan’s cricket team is at its lowest ebb, but when one is at rock bottom, the only way is up. So I desperately hope this is true for our cricket team as well. One request, Ed: please make the back cover more interesting, and I think publishing original work will help!

Hello Editor,

‘Poets’ Corner’ is my favorite section, and I am a fan of Us poets. This week’s (19 July issue) poems were superb! Masquerade by Amna Ameer and The whisper of our heart by Maryam Munir are beautiful works by two very talented poets. I think Abid Agha’s style has me hooked, too. I enjoyed Deep-rooted (5 July issue) by him a lot. Great job, poets! Oh, and Catching up with Vasia Fatima by Asif Khan (21 June issue) was also interesting. I like Vasia, and her answers were good, too.

Rifts in the team

Dear Editor,

After the early exit of the Pakistani men’s cricket team from the recent T20 World Cup, several sources have claimed that there are rifts between the players and the coaching staff. These rifts have hindered the Pakistani team from evolving as a strong unit over the years. The unity of the team has always been subject to question, and the discord between the players has been apparent in front of the media and other sources.

The fact is that ideal teammates are those who play as a unit, appreciate each other’s achievements, and do not let personal differences affect their game or the team. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should now master the art of bringing unity and solidarity between the players and coaching staff. They should make everyone realize that discord only affects the team’s reputation and morale.
