PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday demanded a judicial inquiry into the firing incident at a protest in Bannu.
In a statement, he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives and said the QWP shared the grief of the bereaved families. He demanded that the perpetrators must be brought to justice. He said subjecting peaceful protesters to violence was a condemnable act, adding that violence was not the solution to any problem. The QWP leader said law and order was worsening in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and added that this incident had added to public anger.
Sikandar Sherpao said the government was least bothered to take steps to improve the deteriorating law and order and this was creating a sense of despondency among the people. He said the people had lost faith in the state as it failed to protect them.
Sikandar Sherpao said the land of the Pakhtuns had witnessed enough bloodshed over the last several decades. He said the current state of lawlessness would lead to anarchy if corrective steps were not taken to overcome this situation.
