General Munir was speaking at a ceremony held on the 97th anniversary of the founding of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China at the GHQ on Thursday. Jiang Zaidong, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, was the chief guest. Major General Wang Zhong, defence attaché, Chinese Embassy officials and officers from the tri-services of Pakistan attended the event. Welcoming the Chinese guests, the COAS congratulated the PLA and praised its contribution to Chinese defence, security and national development. “Relations between the Pakistan Army and Peoples Liberation Army are strong and both militaries continue to engage in bilateral military cooperation, demonstrating the ironclad brotherhood between the two countries,” he said.

The Chinese ambassador thanked the COAS for hosting the event. He said the Pakistan military had always been at the forefront of countering terrorism and made great sacrifices for the peace and stability of Pakistan and the region. “We stand ready to work with our brethren to combat terrorism and firmly believe that no force can destroy the iron-clad friendship between China and Pakistan and the brotherhood between the two militaries,” he said.
