The new Murree development plan, reportedly approved by the Punjab government, includes a glass train that will run between Rawalpindi and Murree. This project seems inappropriate, considering that over 26 million children are out of school. If it was technically feasible to build a rail line to Murree, the British would have done so a hundred years ago. The Murree Hills are prone to landslides and the area is already overcrowded, being a popular hill station. With a new tourist train, this overcrowding would become even more unbearable. Not to mention that the country is heavily indebted. Money could be or should be spent on projects that help increase exports.
