Islamabad:The Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad has arrested three officers of the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BOIE) for their involvement in corrupt practices, FIA said.
The arrested individuals include Director Saeed Khan, Director Gul Akbar, and Assistant Director Ahmar Waheed. The arrests were made following the cancellation of their bail by the Special Judge Central Rawalpindi.
The accused were found involved in issuing protectors to ineligible nurses without NOCs. They illegally issued protectors to a total of 92 nurses, who were later deported from Saudi Arabia.
The accused carried out this illegal activity based on the demand of a Saudi Arabian overseas employment promoter company named Al-Mawarid, Federal Investigation Agency maintained. The accused have been taken into custody, and an investigation has commenced. Meanwhile, the FIA foiling an attempt to travel a gang of women to Saudi Arabia for begging purposes and offloaded them from the flight and sent to FIA investigation center for further inquiry, FIA said.
The suspects were traveling to Saudi Arabia on two different flights when caught, the FIA said and added that the women include Soba Bibi, Khadija Bibi, Asia Bibi, Saira Bibi, Sajida Bibi, Salma Bibi, Samina Bibi, and Naghma Bibi. The arrested suspects were traveling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Initial investigation revealed that the suspects were going to Saudi Arabia begging, the spokesman of Federal Investigation Agency said adding the each suspect was found with 200 riyals. The suspects are from Bahawalnagar. The suspects have been transferred to Federal Investigation Agency Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation and legal action.
