NOWSHERA: Explaining his position about his upcoming appearance in the anti-corruption court, former chief minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday said nobody could dare stop him from entering the province.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had warned the former chief minister of banning his entry into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Stop bragging. I am not going to testify against anyone but I will speak the truth,” he said in his response to Gandapur’s statement.
Talking to The News, he said that the National Accountability Bureau had summoned him earlier and he had given the same statement, which he made at the meeting of the then federal cabinet when he was the defence minister and Ali Amin Gandapur was aware of his stance as he was also member of the then federal cabinet.
“I neither went to the court nor to NAB on my own rather I was summoned through notices,” he explained.
Pervez Khattak said he had again received notices from NAB and the court and he would speak the truth. The former defence minister said the then entire cabinet, including Ali Amin Gandapur, was witness to the statement that he had made. He said it was due to his efforts that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf managed to form its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013. He claimed that he had introduced reforms and ensured good governance due to which the people gave the PTI mandate in 2018.
Pervez Khattak said he talked about many things in his television interviews during the election campaign, but nobody contradicted them. “Nobody has done me any favour. I formed the provincial government through my own hard work in 2013 despite the fact the PTI had fewer lawmakers,” he said, adding the PTI got two-thirds majority in the 2018 general election in KP because of his good governance and record reforms.
It may be recalled that addressing a rally in Mansehra, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur threatened Pervez Khattak with dire consequences if he testified falsely in the court of law against former prime minister Imran Khan.
