Anthropology Deptt, QAU, signs MoC with Chinese university

Islamabad:Department of Anthropology, Quaid-i-Azam University, signs a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Institute for Western Frontier Region of China, Shaanxi Normal University in Xi`an, China.

The agreement aims at enhancing and expanding cooperation in the fields of culture, science and education. The MoC focuses on fostering collaborative efforts to develop and implement innovative scientific programmes, promoting professional growth and training and ensuring quality education while maintaining equality and mutual benefits.

The MoC was signed at the office of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), QAU. Dr Ma Qiang from the Anthropology Department, Shaanxi Normal University, and Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Dean, FSS, signed the document. The Department of Anthropology was represented by its Chairperson, Dr Inam Ullah Leghari, and faculty members.

Established in 1974, the Department of Anthropology at QAU is the pioneering department for Anthropological studies in Pakistan. This MoC represents its first formal agreement with a Chinese university, marking a significant milestone in its history. The collaboration will open new avenues for academic and research cooperation between students and faculty of both universities. In addition to fostering collaborative research projects and academic exchanges, the participants of signing ceremony said, the MoC will facilitate cultural linkages and the exchange of academic scholars. This enhanced cooperation aims to deepen mutual understanding, promote cross-cultural dialogue and strengthen academic ties between Pakistan and China. Through joint initiatives, both institutions will benefit from shared knowledge, diverse perspectives, and innovative approaches to Anthropological research and education.
