A Pakistan problem

The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) says former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan has been arbitrarily imprisoned in violation of international law. The Geneva-based working group has opined that the former incarcerated prime minister should immediately be released from his arbitrary detention from the prison. But they said little about the very serious allegations and charges fixed on the former prime minister of Pakistan. This includes inciting his supporters to rise up against the state. Ever since his ouster from the government, he and his party have left no stone unturned in harming the national interests of the country and the state.

The said working group is also seemingly unaware of all the developments made during his regime as a despotic ruler. The UNWGAD should have noted that the Imran-led PTI government threw many of its opponents in jail based on some very dubious charges. No one should be allowed to meddle in the internal affairs of Pakistan. Pakistan is a sovereign country and its sovereignty must not be compromised by any international organisation or platform.
