PESHAWAR: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar has adjourned the hearing of a case concerning the May 9 protests until August 10.
The court has also summoned additional prosecution witnesses to record their statements.ATC Judge Iqbal Khan heard the case, during which investigating officer Ghani Khan, a key figure named in the case, appeared and recorded his statement. The court then postponed further proceedings to August 10 to allow more prosecution witnesses to provide their testimonies.
According to the prosecution, provincial minister Meena Khan, MNAs Sher Ali and MNA Asif Khan, MPA Fazal Elahi, along with 115 others, are implicated in the case. Former provincial ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash are also among the accused.
The defendants are charged with vandalism and causing damage to the VIP gate of Bala Hisar Fort during the May 9 protests. They allegedly damaged private banks and other private and government properties during the unrest.
