Polio worker robbed, injured

A polio worker was wounded in a firing incident involving robbers in an industrial area of the city on Thursday. Police reported the arrest of one robber and the seizure of weapons and a motorcycle from his possession, while two accomplices managed to evade capture.

The incident occurred near a private textile mill within the jurisdiction of the Site Superhighway Industrial Area police station. Dacoits opened fire, injuring a civilian. Police responded to the gunfire. They apprehended one suspect, recovering weapons and a motorcycle, but two other suspects escaped.

The injured individual was identified as 26-year-old Azam Ayub, reportedly employed as a polio worker. He was at a bank in the jurisdiction of the Surjani Town police station when the three suspects robbed him at gunpoint of his money. The robbers fled towards the Site Superhighway.

In pursuit of the robbers, Ayub encountered them at Site Superhighway, where the suspects fired shots, injuring him. Ayub was transported to a hospital for treatment. Upon arrival at the scene, the police detained one suspect identified as Rashid, while efforts were ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
