Sherpao, others condemn ex-senator’s killing in Bajaur

PESHAWAR: The political leaders on Wednesday the killing of former senator Hidayatullah Khan in a blast in Bajaur tribal district.

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, in a statement, expressed deep grief and sorrow over the incident and extended sympathies to the family of the former senator. He also offered prayers for the deceased and extended condolences to his family. He said that the QWP shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed to Allah to give them patience to cope with this tragedy.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami has also condemned the incident. In a joint press statement, JI provincial president Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and general secretary Abdul Wasi expressed grief over the incident and the loss of precious lives. The JI leaders said that the enemies of Pakistan wanted to destroy the peace and order in the country.

The elements involved in such cowardly acts are the worst enemies of the country, they added. They alleged that the government has failed in maintaining law and order. It was the responsibility of the government to protect the life, property, honor and dignity of the citizens, they stressed, But instead of performing its actual duties, the government was busy taking the skin off the people by subjecting them to unbearable taxes, they maintained. Prof Ibrahim was of the opinion that like the past the current incident will also be put on the back burner and no action would be taken against the perpetrators.

They urged the government to conduct an impartial probe into the incident and award exemplary punishment to the perpetrators. They offered prayers for the forgiveness of the deceased and early recovery to those who sustained injuries in the incident.
