Islamabad:Pakistan has extended a helping hand to medical and dental students from Gaza, allowing them to continue their studies in the country amidst the ongoing conflict in their homeland.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) made this decision on humanitarian grounds, ensuring these students don't face disruptions in their education. The Council will facilitate the arrival of students in batches of 20-30, with an expected total of 100. These students will have the unique opportunity to complete their clinical rotations at Pakistani medical colleges and public teaching hospitals. A dedicated committee will be formed to oversee their smooth integration into the Pakistani medical education system.
“This is the need of the hour,” said the PMDC President. “Gaza students will have the chance to learn in a well-equipped environment, something they might lack due to the conflict.” This initiative offers a multitude of benefits for both Gaza and Pakistan. Gaza students will gain valuable knowledge and skills in various medical specialties, allowing them to return home and significantly contribute to their healthcare system. They can become trainers and mentors, raise the overall standard of medical practice, and even contribute to healthcare research. For Pakistan, this fosters educational exchange and collaboration, strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties with Palestine. Overall, this act of solidarity empowers Gaza students to build a stronger healthcare system for their people, while showcasing Pakistan's commitment to supporting nations facing conflict and instability.
