LAHORE:The equipment for sterilising the surgical instruments has been out of order in Jinnah Hospital Lahore for quite some tome. Due to non-sterilisation of surgical instruments, the doctors feared spread of germs and infections to the patients. The hospital administration did nothing to operationalise dysfunctional machines meant to sterilise surgical instruments.
Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED) Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed that sterilising equipment in Jinnah Hospital and burn centre were not functioning. He informed that he had called an urgent meeting on the issue of breakdown of sterilising machines. ‘We will decide on the cause and solutions of dysfunctioning of machinery, repair and funds required for it. The funds will be released soon and machines will be put back into use,’ Khawaja Salman Rafique added.
PMLN believes in public service
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Muslim League (N) believed in public service and we all have to get Pakistan out of the challenges it is facing. He said this while talking to officials of LDA and Sui Northern Gas Departments who called on him on Wednesday. The projects and the performance of the relevant departments were reviewed in detail during the meeting where the relevant officers also gave a briefing. Provincial health minister said that our country will be on the path of development in near future, he added. He instructed the authorities concerned to complete the development schemes in PP-153 as per given time frame.
Dental camp
The health department Wednesday established a mobile dental camp at the Camp Jail for a complete examination, screening and treatment of 6,326 under trial prisoners. Talking to reporters, Senior Superintendent Prisons, Camp Jail Zaheer Ahmad Virk said a team of dental surgeons assisted by paramedical staff had started examination and screening of all prisoners. He said this unprecedented move marks a historic moment in the long history of the jail, reflecting a commitment to the health and well-being of inmates by IG Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazeer.
He said under the Chief Minister's directive, the Health Department had mobilised resources and deployed a team of qualified dental professionals equipped with modern dental equipment to the jail.
