Railways to upgrade two trains

LAHORE:Pakistan Railways Chairman Mazhar Ali Shah has directed the upgradation of two new trains in the fiscal year 2024-25, on the pattern of Green Line Service. This directive was given during a high-level meeting held at the Railways Headquarters here on Wednesday.

Shah emphasised the implementation of the Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) system to ensure financial transparency within Pakistan Railways. He urged all officers to adapt to new technologies to enhance the organisation's efficiency. Shah instructed that all train carriages must be equipped with fire extinguishers to ensure passenger safety. He stressed the importance of using high-quality and durable materials in trains.

Shah called for a standard policy on periodic overhauling and effective monitoring of coach repair and maintenance. He directed the consultant firm to present the project's financial model and action plan within four months.

Following the meeting, Shah visited the Carriage Shop in Mughalpura to inspect the coach manufacturing process. He reiterated the importance of maintaining high safety standards and ensuring superior facilities in the coaches. The meeting included a detailed review of the railway's procurement and repair and maintenance plans. Safety measures were also reviewed in the meeting. The progress of the Kohat Thal Parachinar Kharlachi project was also discussed.

This series of initiatives marks a significant step towards modernising Pakistan Railways and enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
