ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set goals for the dissolution of Pakistan PWD. The prime minister has set a timeline to complete the process of dissolution.

According to sources, in the meeting presided over by the prime minister, it has been decided that no funding will be given to PWD for PSDP projects of the new financial year. Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company will be established for PSDP projects under the PWD.

For this, the target has been given to complete the necessary legal action in one month. The ongoing projects of provincial nature will be handed over to the respective provinces. They will be completed under the supervision of the federal government. This work will be completed in two weeks.

The committee formed for the transition plan of PWD will outsource maintenance and repair work to pre-qualified firms. For this, the third-party verification or the maintenance budget of ministries concerned will be kept in view. The recommendations of PWD’s transition plan will be placed before the prime minister for final approval. Two weeks have been given for it. The staff of PWD will be divided into two parts. The lower-level support staff will be transferred to respective ministries and interim arrangements would be made until the golden handshake plan is finalised.

The committee will prepare a transition plan which would be submitted to the prime minister. The recommendations will be prepared in two weeks. The Ministry of Housing and Works with the support of the Ministry of IT will computerize the records of PWD assets to change their titles.
