Sindh Education Dept takes action against senior officers, pensioners benefitting from BISP

Directive enclosed a compact disc containing the list of names, along with details of the amount withdrawn and challan for payment

KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has initiated action against its 28,539 employees and 4,580 pensioners drawing monthly doleouts from the BISP. The action has been taken in pursuance of directions from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) authorities, in Islamabad.

The Sindh Education Department received a BISP directive from Islamabad on May 9, 2024, requesting departmental action against 28,539 employees and 4,580 pensioners who happen to be beneficiaries of the programme and recover the amount. The directive also enclosed a compact disc containing the list of names, along with details of the amount withdrawn and challan for payment. Out of these beneficiaries, 1,122 are officers of grade 17 and above in different departments of the province.

The Sindh Education Department directed all attached subordinate departments’ heads including the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Research, the Director of Teachers Training Institution Sindh, Hyderabad, the Chief Program Manager, Reform Support Unit, DG Inspection of Private Institutions, Director, Human Resources and Training, Director, Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority, Project Director, Project Management and Implementation Unit, DG Provincial Institution of Teachers Education (PITE), Director, Planning Development and Research, Chairman, Sindh Text Book Board, Jamshoro, Project Director, English Medium, Director, Sindh Basic Education Programme, Head of Curriculum, Director Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Director PMIU SERP, Director, Non-formal Basic Education, Director, Public Private Partnership, Director, Inspection and registration and Directors of School Education (Primary) and Chief Engineers of Education Works of Hyderabad, Sukkur and Karachi.

Quoting a direction of the Sindh Services, General Administration, Coordination and Department (SGA&CD), the Education Department authorities have asked its subordinate officers to verify the names and designations with the grades of officers and lower staff of the Education Department and its attached offices who are beneficiaries of BISP. They have been directed to initiate necessary departmental action along with recovering the swindled amount under the rules. They have been further directed to report the action within 10 days.
