PESHAWAR: About 52 complaints were registered regarding various departments as the first monthly khuli kutchery (open court) of the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) was held on Tuesday.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Anti-Corruption Establishment Brigadier (Retd) Muhammad Mossadiq Abbasi, Anti-Corruption Establishment Director Rab Nawaz Khan and officers of departments concerned attended the public forum.
An official communique said that eight complaints were registered in Peshawar, six in Malakand, five in Abbottabad, 11 in Kohat, three complaints in Bannu, 18 complaints in Dera Ismail Khan and one in Mansehra.
Speaking on the occasion, Mossadiq Abbasi said that the elimination of corruption from government institutions was the main mandate of the Anti-Corruption Establishment. “It is a supporting body for complainants. Abuse of authority in any department will not be tolerated. Anyone involved in damaging or embezzling public funds will be dealt with severely,” he added.
Brigadier (retd) Muhammad Mossadiq Abbasi directed joint measures with the relevant authorities to prevent the advertisement of illegal housing societies. He added that the advertisement agencies should carry out the advertisement campaign after verifying the NOC and other relevant documents.
On complaints about non-compliance with relevant rules in contracts and procurement in various government departments, the CM aide asked for obtaining the details of tenders and procurement from KPRA and directed the officials concerned to take action if irregularities were proven.
Similarly, action was directed on priority basis on the citizen’s complaint related to Mansehra Forest Department. On the complaints regarding non-enforcement of by-laws and illegal allotment of shops in Cooperative Society Tarujabba, Nowshera, the special assistant directed the officials concerned to verify the complaints.
Mossadiq Abbasi directed the Anti-Corruption Establishment officials to track the registered complaints and keep them informed about the progress and action.
