The protesters were carrying national flags and the banners inscribed with their demands. The union secretary general Khurshid Ahmad urged the Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Energy to intervene to mitigate fatal accidents of line and field staff as work load of the power sector is increasing rapidly, while technical people are retiring and no new recruitment had been carried out since last 6 years. He said electricity workers would observe “Martyred Day” on July 4 across the country to pay tributes to the sacrifices of their colleagues. He also demanded recruitment of more staff and safety equipment for them forthwith.

By a resolution, it was demanded that DISCOs employees may be allowed to be paid one month pay as performance allowance. Osama Tariq, Haji Muhammad Younas, Hassan Munir Bhatti, Nosher Khan, Muzaffar Mateen, Shafqat Javed, Zahid Malik, other union representatives and workers also addressed the rally.
