MARDAN: Despite timely payment of bills and no power losses in the area, thousands of residents in Ghundo and surrounding villages of Katlang tehsil in Mardan district are enduring prolonged, unannounced power outages.

Residents of Ghundo, linked to the old feeder of the Katlang grid station, complained of 14-hour load-shedding imposed by the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco). Despite their timely bill payments and lack of power losses, they face significant hardships due to these outages.

“We are already struggling with the intense heat, and Pesco has made it unbearable by suspending power for 14 hours daily. There are no losses on our feeder, yet we endure hours of load-shedding,” lamented Mir Waris Khan, a resident of Ghundo village. He noted that the Katlang Old Feeder had no previous issues, making the current situation particularly frustrating.“This prolonged power outage has made life miserable for us. Patients, the elderly, and children are the most affected, and there seems to be no one to help,” he added.

Gohar Ali Khan, another resident, echoed similar complaints. “There is neither a factory nor any power losses, yet we suffer 14 hours of load-shedding. This is in injustice. We can’t sleep during the day or night due to frequent power suspensions,” he said.Gohar Ali and other local elders asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to pay attention to their plight and resolve the power crisis affecting their area.
