Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has commended the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) for exceeding its revenue collection target for the outgoing financial year 2023-24.
A statement issued to the media on Sunday quoted the CM as saying that the SRB has achieved a significant milestone by meeting its revenue target, extraordinarily collecting taxes every month.
Shah said the SRB collected Rs28 billion in revenue in June alone, adding that it is the board’s highest-ever tax collection amount in a single month. He said the SRB achieved remarkable success by collecting Rs237 billion in taxes in the outgoing financial year.
He mentioned that the SRB had to meet the target of Rs235 billion in revenue collection in the outgoing financial year. He said the SRB’s latest revenue collection is Rs185 billion higher, or 28 per cent more, than its tax collection in the previous financial year.
He also said the SRB showed commendable revenue collection performance despite the economic slowdown, the 1.21 per cent lesser GDP growth in the services sector of the economy, and the announcement of a tax-free provincial budget for the past couple of years.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori gave assent to the new provincial budget for the financial year 2024-25. He also assented to the new Sindh Finance Bill 2024-25.
