The PCB has also recalled Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, and Syeda Aroob Shah while Tasmia Rubab earned maiden Pakistan call-up. Pakistan will face India on July 19.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Sunday announced the national squad for the Asia Cup, set to be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from July 19 to 28. Iram Javed, whose last T20I was against Bangladesh in October 2023, Omaima Sohail, who last played against New Zealand in December 2023, and Syeda Aroob Shah, who last appeared in a T20I in September 2023 against South Africa, are making a comeback.

Tasmia Rubab, a 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler, is the only uncapped player in the squad. She has shown impressive form, representing Pakistan A and Multan in domestic tournaments. Her performance in the National Women’s One-Day Tournament 2023-24, scoring 86 runs and taking 12 wickets, along with her four wickets in the National Women T20 Tournament, earned her the call-up.

The selectors have omitted Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar from the squad that toured England last month. The training camp for the national team will start on 5 July in Karachi and continue until the team’s departure on 16 July. Head coach Muhammad Wasim will lead the camp, supported by spin bowling coach Abdur Rehman, assistant coach (bowling) Junaid Khan, and assistant coach (fielding) Hanif Malik. The support staff includes Hina Munawar (team manager), Rabia Siddiq (physiotherapist), and Waleed Ahmed (analyst).

Pakistan squad: Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi, Nashra Sundhu, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, Tasmia Rubab and Tuba Hassan.
