HYDERABAD: The Left Bank Canal Area Water Board has advised farmers to take precautionary measures due to concerns over potential water shortages at the Kotri barrage.
A spokesperson for the Sindh Irrigation Drainage Authority has said that 18,000 cusecs of water have been released from the Sukkur barrage and are expected to reach the Kotri barrage within a few days. If the water flow at the barrage decreases, it will also impact the flow of water in the Akram Wah and Phullelli Wah canals.
Director of the Left Bank Canal Area Water Board Shahnawaz Bhutto has said that the water flow at the barrage will be reduced in the coming days.
Farmers are advised to take preventive measures, including minimizing water wastage and stopping drainage irrigation water. This will help mitigate the effects of water shortages by redirecting water within the system to crops.
The director assures that once the water situation at the barrage improves, the canals will be restored to their full supply levels.
