Shops, cabins gutted in Peshawar market fire

PESHAWAR: A large number of cabins and shops were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in the crowded Nauthia locality in Saddar here on Saturday.

A number of ambulances and fire vehicles rushed to the busy marketplace after the fire started spreading to other markets.

The fire was so huge that it engulfed several cabins and shops within no time and reduced goods inside these shops worth millions of rupees to ashes. Officials of the Rescue 1122 said 15 fire vehicles, three ambulances were sent to the spot while 110 firefighters made hectic efforts for hours to put out the fire. Reports said over 40 shops with goods worth millions of rupees were gutted by the fire.
