‘New Hub Dam canal project to be completed in 13 months’

With the cooperation of the Sindh government, the project to lay a new canal from Hub Dam and restore the existing canal is expected to be completed in the next 13 months. Once completed, this project will benefit the residents of District West, District Central, District Keamari, Lyari Town and other areas.

Considering the water shortfall in Karachi, the federal government should immediately release all funds to complete the K-IV project promptly, so that the city's water issues can be resolved swiftly.

These remarks were made by Karachi Mayor and Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Chairman Barrister Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui during a meeting with elected municipal representatives of Baldia, Mominabad, Orangi, Morro Mirbhar and Lyari Town at the Chairman's Secretariat in Karsaz on Thursday.

Present at the occasion were the chief operating officer of the KWSC, Engineer Asadullah Khan, mayor’s spokesperson for political affairs Karam Ullah Waqasi, Rasheed Haroon, Jaman Durwan, Dil Muhammad, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, various elected municipal representatives highlighted different issues regarding the water supply and sewerage in their respective areas, stressing that all problems should be addressed on a priority basis.

The mayor assured the elected representatives of the immediate resolution of all complaints and issued on the spot directives to the relevant Water Corporation officers, mandating that all wat er supply and sewerage issues across the city be addressed on a priority basis.

He emphasized that providing better water supply and sewerage facilities throughout the city is among our top priorities. "We are all one; Karachi is our home, and therefore we all need to work together for the betterment of Karachi." He gave strict instructions to the Water Corporation officers to resolve water supply issues.
