‘Focus on character building of youth’

LAHORE:The young school going children are our asset and keeping this factor in notice, our trainers are putting special focus on character building of participants of summer camp. Director General Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal stated this while issuing his statement about the ongoing summer camp.

The Sports Board Punjab’s Summer Sports Camps of gymnastics and taekwondo were held on the second day at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC). The swimming camp is underway at Punjab International Swimming Pool.

DG Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal said that the Summer Camps are useful activity and it will play a key role in nurturing the game skills of the school going boys and girls. “The Summer Sports Camps are being organized under the supervision of qualified coaches”.

He further said that the 40-day Summer Sports Camp will prove to be crucial in tracing fresh sports talent. “The participants of summer camp will also take part in competitive sports events during the last three days of the camp under the supervision of their respective coaches”.

As many as 400 young swimmers are being trained under the supervision of Hafeez Bhatti and senior swimming coach Rafi uz Zaman. The Summer Camp of swimming is being conducted in morning and evening sessions.

In the morning session, the young swimmers are being trained in two sessions from 6am to 6.45am and 7am to 7.45am. Similarly, in the evening time, the two training sessions will be conducted from 4pm to 4.45pm and 5pm to 5.45pm.

Senior coach RaeesurRehman is overseeing the taekwondo camp at NPSC Gymnasium Hall where dozens of young camp probable are being imparted finer points of taekwondo game. The gymnastic camp is also being conducted at the same venue under the supervision of qualified coach M Adnan. Expert coaches taught the basic skills of their respective games on the first day of SBP Summer Sports Camp.
