Governor for all parties’ role in country’s prosperity

LAHORE: A delegation of the Punjab Assembly members, headed by Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan People's Party, Punjab Assembly, Syed Ali Haider Gillani, met Governor Sardar Saleem Haider at the Governor's House, here.

During the meeting, the members of the delegation congratulated Sardar Saleem Haider on assuming the office of Governor. Speaking on this occasion, Saleem Haider said that all political parties, including the opposition, should play a positive role in the development and prosperity of the country. He said that good governance and improving the quality of education in universities remained a priority. All resources would be used for the welfare of the people, he said, adding he was committed to provide the facilities of higher education to the backward tehsils of remote districts of the province. He said that the sub-campuses of major universities in tehsils of Attock District would be established in the shortest possible time.

PPP’s Parliamentary Leader in Punjab Assembly, Syed Ali Haider Gillani said that PPP believed in the politics of reconciliation for stability in the country. The delegation comprised of Sardar Raees Nabeel, Malik Wasif Mazhar Ran, Mian Kamran Abdullah Mudal, Qazi Ahmed Saeed, Aamir Ali Shah, Inam Bari, Sardar Habibur Rehman Gopang, Shazia Abid, Neelam Jabbar and Nargis Faiz Malik.

Earlier, Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal called on Governor Saleem Haider at Governor’s House. During the meeting, Secretary Home briefed the governor on peace plan during Muharram in Rawalpindi Division, especially in Attock district.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor directed the secretary to take all possible measures to ensure peace in the province during Muharram.
