PESHAWAR: Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah has decided to establish Pediatric Emergency and Telemedicine Centers in the province to reduce the infant mortality rate.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Health Minister, attended by MPA Taj Muhammad Tarand, Abdul Ghani Afridi, Dean IRH Professor Dr Junaid, CEO Health Card Dr Riaz Tanoli, Zonal Head State Life Dr Fayaz Noor, and representatives of the Child Life Foundation.
The meeting discussed the establishment of Paediatric Emergency and Telemedicine Centers at Lady Reading Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar, as well as in DI Khan, Abbottabad, and Swat. These centers will provide specialised health services to children in these regions free of charge.
The health minister stated that the establishment of pediatric centres in the province would be expedited. He said that efforts would be made to establish a Paediatric Emergency Center in every hospital in each region to reduce the burden of referrals to Peshawar. He added that if emergency and telemedicine services were improved, a 50% reduction in infant mortality can be achieved.
