LAHORE:The Home Department is implementing the Punjab Prison Reforms Agenda. According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, a major issue of the prisoners going to appear in the courts from the jails was resolved. Now lunch boxes and cold water bottles are provided to all the prisoners from across Punjab before leaving for court. The captives can eat lunch comfortably during their stay in Bakhshi Khana.
He said that the prisoner welfare programme had received appreciation from the prisoners, their families as well as human rights organisations and welfare institutions. The spokesman said that the installation of small flour mills for supply of quality flour in jails across Punjab was also approved. Tractors and other agricultural implements have been provided in the jails which are helping in turning jail lands cultivable. As a result, fresh vegetables and wheat are being grown in the jail for fulfilling the food requirements of the prisoners.
CCPO reviews security situation in City
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana reviewed the overall security situation and other professional matters at his office here on Monday. Presiding over the meeting, the CCPO commended the officers for their excellent teamwork in controlling crime in the provincial capital during Eidul Azha.
The CCPO directed the officers to perform their duties with dedication, stressing the need for swift resolution of ongoing investigations. He stressed the importance of excellent coordination with the prosecution department to expedite the pending cases.
Addressing the meeting, the CCPO said the arrest of any innocent person would not be tolerated. He reaffirmed the police's commitment to protecting the lives, property and honour of the people.
Bilal Siddique issued orders for the prompt arrest of electricity thieves cases and proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes such as murder and attempted murder. He emphasised focusing on the quality of investigations and ensuring quick justice for the victims by promptly completing under investigation cases.

2,884 detained in four months
Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Monday said combing operations are underway to suppress miscreants, criminals, and terrorists. According to a Punjab police spokesman, from February 26 the police conducted 6,389 search and combing operations across the province, including Lahore. The spokesman maintained that over 206,000 individuals have been questioned, 2,884 suspects have been detained, and 105 pistols, 16 guns and eight rifles have been recovered from the accused.
The spokesman said two days earlier over 30 search operations were held in various districts of the province and more than 763 individuals were questioned, and suspects were detained.
The IGP has directed continuing search and combing operations around sensitive areas, slums, hotels, inns, and bus terminals, and said miscreants and their facilitators should be brought to justice. He stressed tightening the circle around those involved in illegal activities and organised crime.
